Help! Where do I start?

We suggest that you begin by browsing the site to familiarise yourself with the information available about the Lancashire Heelers in the database. Try walking through pedigrees, looking at the information details of a dog and the inbreeding pedigrees etc. Make use of the information and explanation headings to gain an understanding of how coefficients are calculated and what they mean. Note that these can only be meaningful where most data exists. When you are familiar with the way the site works you are ready to enter your dogs (if you have one!)

First gather all the information about your dog that you wish to enter: Pedigree details, owner and breeders name, any health information and maybe a photograph. It is much faster and easier to enter a dog if you are methodical about the way you enter it.

FIRST: Search for yuor Lancashire Heeler to ensure it is not already in the database.

SECOND: Check to see whether the breeders name and your name is in the owner / breeder list. If not add these names first using the 'Add an Owner / Breeder' feature.

THIRD: Check to see whether all the Lancashire Heelers in the pedigree are in the database. Enter those that aren't one at a time working from those farthest back to your current Heeler. This way you will have a full pedigree to walk through once your dog is entered.

IMPORTANT! The following may result in duplicate dogs being added or the dog not being added at all Please remember:

1. DATES Must be entered in the format dd-mm-yyyy

2. Do not use quotes or apostrophes in names

3. Do not press the back button on your browser when adding a dog
