Inbreeding Coefficient Calculations

This database uses Wrights inbreeding coefficient formula for COI calculations and is calculated over 8 generations, where available, as per Breedmate.

This will differ from a COI given on the KC Mate Select database which is calculated using the 1Meuwissen and Luo calculation. There a number of COI calculations used to obtain inbreeding coefficients and it is important to remember that:
1. It is not possible to compare the COI of one calculation with that of another
2. The resulting calculation is only as good as the data on which it is based. This project is in its infancy and ongoing. Data is far from complete and has been inputted by a number of individuals and constantly being validated.
3. The KC Mate Select database contains data from UK registrations and provides another useful reference tool for Lancashire Heeler breeders and puppy buyers.

 

An explanation of Kinship, Relationship and Inbreeding Coeffivients, as used in this database, in given on the relevant pages. This includes the total number of dogs in any one pedigree and the number of unique ancestors within it.
